With Rihanna endorsing her track “TGIF” and having had multiple encounters with Beyoncé, 2024 has proven to be an unforgettable year for GloRilla. On Tuesday (Oct. 8), the artist from Memphis shared her experiences of connecting with these superstars during an interview with Billboard.
“RiRi was asking about my album and dancing along to my song,” GloRilla recounted. “She usually doesn’t groove to other artists’ tracks. When I saw her doing that, I felt amazed, especially since people often say we look alike. They can be a bit jealous. I’m a massive admirer of Rihanna.”
Back in June, the ANTI artist posted a video of herself delivering lines from “TGIF” to ASAP Rocky, who humorously replied, “Where’s my drink at? I’ve outgrown this s**t.” The next month, Rihanna posed a “outrageously hypocritical” query regarding when GloRilla’s debut album, GLORIOUS, would be available.
Later in the dialogue, GloRilla reflected on the occasion when she and Megan Thee Stallion joined Beyoncé at SirDavis’ launch event. She exclaimed, “I’m a huge admirer of Beyoncé. This was the third time meeting her, and she’s consistently so kind. I adore her.”
GLORIOUS, set to drop on Friday (Oct. 11), will feature collaborations with Latto, Sexyy Red, Muni Long, and more. It’s anticipated to face off against Rod Wave’s sixth studio release, Last Lap.
“He has a wild fan base. I’m one of them, so I recognize that when Rod Wave releases new music, it feels like the entire music scene pauses,” GloRilla shared with Billboard about the talented Florida artist. “I really didn’t want anyone else to release on my special day, but sharing is fine.”
The “Wanna Be” sensation also commended T-Pain for contributing his vocals to “I LUV HER” from her upcoming album: “Hearing his voice is such a breath of fresh air. He was the greatest of his era and continues to be the GOAT. His music never goes out of style.”
