GloRilla and Beyoncé
Dimensions
GloRilla is an ardent admirer of Beyoncé. On Thursday (October 17), during Angel Reese’s “Unapologetically Angel” podcast, the Memphis artist expressed her desire to feature the superstar on GLORIOUS (Deluxe), which currently lacks an official launch date.
“Which collaboration would you love to pursue?” Reese inquired, to which GloRilla enthusiastically responded, “Beyoncé.” She recounted an encounter with the Lemonade icon at Michael Rubin’s all-white party during Independence Day: “I was tipsy, strolling around, and suddenly I felt a tap on my shoulder. When I turned around, it was Beyoncé.”
“She said, ‘Y’all come over here.’ I was shocked, thinking, ‘You want us in your area?’ Her security team was quite serious about their duties — they weren’t letting us through easily — but her family insisted, ‘Nah, she wants them over here.’ I was overwhelmed,” GloRilla shared. “I couldn’t contain myself. Tears began streaming down my face because my admiration for her runs that deep.”
When asked about potential collaborations, the CMG artist confessed, “We haven’t discussed that yet. I get so anxious every time I run into her.” She then addressed the pop superstar directly, stating: “Beyoncé, I need that.”
GLORIOUS was released on October 11, featuring an impressive array of contributors. Latto and Sexyy Red appeared on “PROCEDURE” and “WHATCHU KNO ABOUT ME,” respectively. Furthermore, “RAIN DOWN ON ME” showcased vocals from Kirk Franklin, Maverick City Music, Kierra Sheard, and Chandler Moore.
It’s notable that the album was updated on Monday (October 14) to introduce the K Carbon-supported track “NEVER FIND.” Looking ahead, GloRilla mentioned to Reese, “I’m gearing up for [a] tour next year, and I may release more music soon. I’ll let GLORIOUS do its thing for the moment.”
GloRilla was initially scheduled to launch a solo tour for her album Ehhthang Ehhthang in April. However, she ended up joining Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hot Girl Summer Tour” as a supporting artist.
