John Mayer expressed his heartfelt gratitude regarding his cherished Mets’ 2024 season—crafting a poignant message to convey his appreciation to the team and their star shortstop, Francisco Lindor, for serving as a wellspring of inspiration throughout the year.
The iconic artist collected his emotions a day after the Mets faced defeat against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS. It’s evident that the influence the team had on him transcends mere statistics or outcomes on the field.

Indeed, Mayer reminisced about a specific incident during the Dead & Company’s run at the Las Vegas Sphere… when he sustained an injury to his finger, losing part of his nail during a performance. Yet, Lindor’s perseverance inspired him to push through.
“Initially, I thought about how to play using just my other three fingers,” he noted. “That’s what Lindor would have done, and so I followed suit.”
Without a doubt, Lindor propelled the Mets during the concluding phase of the season… even after suffering a back injury in a match against the Philadelphia Phillies on September 13.
Mayer praised Lindor profusely, stating, “You could notice the commitment reflected in his eyes, in his plays—even in his strikeouts; it wasn’t a matter of ‘couldn’t,’ just ‘didn’t that particular time.’
Mayer also imparted a piece of wisdom to his audience… expressing his thanks to the whole organization for reminding him to persist, irrespective of the circumstances.
Mayer has consistently showcased his admiration for the Orange and Blue, previously donning a Lindor jersey during a performance at Citi Field in June 2023.

While the Mets came just two games short of making it to the World Series… Mayer encourages the players to take a moment to celebrate the achievements of the season.
“Their extraordinary journey was indeed sufficient to unite a city, bond families and friends, and remind all of us that, above all, effort is the greatest determinant of success.”
