Fans of true crime now have the opportunity to acquire one of Los Angeles’ most notorious residences … the infamous Los Feliz Murder Mansion is officially available for purchase.
If you’re not acquainted with this eerie estate, the 1920s Spanish Revival home boasts 5 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, and spans over 9,000 square feet of living space … located centrally in the Hollywood-adjacent area of Los Feliz, it has attracted numerous murder enthusiasts over the years.
This magnificent mansion — currently listed for $3.649 million — carries a considerable history due to the numerous notable fatalities associated with it. Originally constructed in 1925 for Harold and Florence Schumacher, the couple infamously died weeks apart just three years after acquiring the property.
As ownership of the property transitioned, misfortune remained … the new proprietor Welford Beaton witnessed the tragic passing of his 21-year-old son Donald, who lived with him, due to an infection. Welford himself faced dire consequences as he declared bankruptcy a year following Donald’s demise.
However, the 1959 homicide that transpired within the estate is what ultimately rendered it notorious.
Dr. Harold Perelson — who was grappling with severe financial difficulties at the time — murdered his wife, Lillian, using a hammer … additionally, he assaulted his eldest daughter, 18-year-old Judy, who fortunately managed to escape the attack.
Following this tragic event, Dr. Perelson took his own life.
In the aftermath of this infamous act of violence, the residence garnered the title of the Los Feliz Murder Mansion, a label that continues to linger over the grand estate.
The estate has exchanged ownership several times throughout the last sixty years. One notable owner was attorney Lisa Bloom, who possessed the title for nearly four years before parting ways with the property in 2020. Nevertheless, it has remained unoccupied ever since.
