Lana Del Rey and Jeremy Dufrene recently tied the knot under the guidance of a notable, if somewhat controversial, spiritual figure, as reported by TMZ.
As per the couple’s marriage license, which was procured by TMZ, Pastor Judah Smith officiated their wedding in Louisiana last month, duly signing the official document.
It’s somewhat expected that Judah officiated the wedding of the famed singer to her alligator tour guide partner, as Lana featured one of his sermons named “Judah Smith Interlude” on her album, “Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd,” released last year.
Pastor Judah is well-known for his connections with high-profile churchgoers, including Justin Bieber and his spouse, Hailey. Justin particularly sought the guidance of this megachurch preacher following his disassociation from the scandal-ridden founder of Hillsong, Carl Lentz.
However, Pastor Judah has found himself amidst some disputes — last year, the Seattle branch of Churchome and its leadership faced allegations of compelling staff members to contribute 10% of their salaries back to the congregation.
In defense of the church, a legal representative later stated that Churchome “holds the belief that the Bible instructs all Christians to tithe.”
He further added, “Churchome aims to staunchly defend the rights of all religious organizations to express, teach, and implement their faith through their workers.”
Evidently, that controversy didn’t deter Lana from being a part of Pastor Judah’s congregation, as he played a significant role in her special day.
