On Tuesday (Sept. 24), Latto came to the aid of a former Waffle House staff member who was dismissed after participating in the rapper’s “Brokey” challenge while on duty.

Yadira Ramirez, the individual involved, uploaded a TikTok clip on Sept. 20 featuring her and her colleagues mimicking the gestures to the song’s pre-chorus: “When a real one holds you down, babe, you’re supposed to drown / You ain’t ever dealt with no boss b**ch, I flipped you out / You won’t catch me in no Shark boots, y’all burned ‘em out / B**ches have to wait till their birthday to travel.”

The next day (Sept. 21), she disclosed that Waffle House terminated her for the video going viral — it has since surpassed 20 million views. “Our company policy doesn’t explicitly say we can’t have our phones. It simply states that we shouldn’t speak negatively about the company, and we didn’t,” Ramirez mentioned in another video on the platform. “I was the only one let go. As far as I know, no one else has received write-ups.”

She remarked, “I’m alright. I’m not upset. [I] just felt a bit down [in] that moment. I understand that life is about growth and blessings, [and] I’m eager for my new journey.” Fortunately, a fresh opportunity appeared sooner than anticipated as Latto met with Ramirez on Tuesday.

In a clip shared on her TikTok, Ramirez was seen dancing to the “part two” of the challenge before the “Put It On Da Floor” artist stepped into view. She presented her the $10,000 reward that was promised earlier in the month.

“Brokey” is featured on Latto’s newest studio project, Sugar Honey Iced Tea. This 22-track album includes hits like “Big Mama,” “Blick Sum,” and “Sunday Service,” with guest appearances from Coco Jones, Young Nudy, Megan Thee Stallion, and Teezo Touchdown.
