Lil Durk is preparing to unveil his upcoming album, which isn’t Love Songs 4 the Streets 3 as many fans initially thought. On Friday (Oct. 4), the Chicago-based artist revealed that Deep Thoughts will be available on streaming platforms come Oct. 18.

“For the people, from the streets, Smurk [is] back,” he shared in an Instagram update accompanied by the monochromatic cover art. Currently, only two tracks have been officially announced: “Turn Up A Notch” and “Monitoring Me,” with the latter dropping at midnight.

“I was a Jeezy supporter, but I was livid, ain’t craft me a snowman/ You slap a switch on a fresh Glock, guarantee the lil’ b**ch’ll start malfunctioning/ I don’t even need to compensate a n**ga for anything, I got shooters, all my homies,” Durk rapped on the Southside-produced track.

Deep Thoughts is set to be a highly anticipated successor to 2023’s Almost Healed. This extensive 21-track project featured collaborations with artists like Morgan Wallen, the late Juice WRLD, Rob49, Kodak Black, and Future, among others. Highlights included the Alicia Keys-featured “Therapy Session” and “All My Life,” which clinched the title for Best Melodic Rap Performance at the 2024 Grammy Awards.

“I was getting ready, and when they [announced my win], the entire house erupted with cheers. I thought, ‘Yep. I understand what that implies.’ I reached out to [J. Cole]. He’s thrilled. You know he’s out touring. Huge shout out to J. Cole. Big thanks to Dr. Luke,” Durk commented to the Recording Academy about collaborating with the Dreamville Records icon on “All My Life.”

“I actually completed the track, and I saved it for a whole year just to get [J. Cole] to feature on it. If I hadn’t gotten him, I probably wouldn’t have released it,” he continued. “I thought, ‘This is a Grammy.’ That’s what I believed. For both of us together, more tracks, tours, just great vibes and deep learning from him. He’s the GOAT.”
