Fans of Megan Thee Stallion are in for an exciting surprise this year. On the evening of Wednesday (Oct. 2), the Houston-born artist hinted at releasing what she describes as the “toughest mixtape of 2024.” Although details are not fully finalized, it appears that the forthcoming act two of MEGAN may be a standalone project rather than just an expanded edition — a trend many artists, including SZA and Nicki Minaj, are currently pursuing.
In September, the Grammy-winning artist unveiled “Neva Play,” featuring BTS’ RM, along with a visual presentation directed by Warren Fu and Carl Jones, the executive producer of “The Boondocks.” It’s worth noting that Megan previously collaborated with the K-pop sensation on “Butter (Remix).”
During the same month, she hinted at a potential partnership with Flo Milli. In an Ask Me Anything session before the MTV VMAs, a fan asked, “If you could feature anyone on the deluxe, who would it be?” Megan responded with a GIF from the Alabama star’s “In The Party” music video.
As of now, no official release date has been set for the sequel to MEGAN. Nonetheless, on Sept. 28, the artist assured fans that she is “almost finished working,” while sharing another brief clip of her music.
“With this album, I aimed to exhibit my personal passions and reflections. I wanted to explore my enthusiasm for everything anime, my Southern roots, my love for enjoyment, and ultimately, be true to myself,” Megan expressed to Billboard about her June release. “I believe I accomplished that. Many expected me to approach this album in a certain manner, but I desired to present this version of myself that exists now.”
MEGAN featured collaborations with artists such as Victoria Monét, GloRilla, UGK, Big K.R.I.T., and Kyle Ricch, among others. Additionally, it included tracks like “HISS,” “B.A.S.,” “Cobra,” and “Mamushi” alongside Yuki Chiba. Each of these songs was performed live at the VMAs.
