It seems like there’s always something happening with Nicki Minaj. This past Saturday (Sept. 21), she exploded in response to music executive Steve Stoute’s remarks on “The Pivot Podcast.”
In the interview with presenters Ryan Clark, Channing Crowder, and Fred Taylor, broadcasted on Friday (Sept. 20), the CEO of United Masters touched on the highly anticipated Super Bowl LIX halftime performance and Minaj’s engagement with TIDAL. “JAY-Z granted you equity, yet you didn’t sign the damn papers, which is why you ended up leaving a fortune unclaimed. That man did nothing to harm you,” Stoute asserted.
“I regard Nicki as an exceptional artist. She has had a profoundly successful career. Let’s not conduct this in public,” he went on to clarify. “Once you start airing grievances on social media like that — and not in a playful way but outright ‘F**k him’ — that feels excessive.”
“I got a call saying TIDAL was acquired, and they didn’t make any profit from the transaction, so all they could offer me was $1 million, but hold on; there’s more!” Minaj remarked on Twitter. “The attorney indicated Desirat told him that I had to sign the contract within 24 hours if I wanted the $1 million, or the ‘offer’ would no longer be available. Listen to the conclusion of ‘Fractions’ for my reply.”
The closing lines of “Fractions,” featured on Beam Me Up Scotty, state, “He’s trying to get at me, I said, ‘Come and get it, honey’/ While I stack a mill’, jigga what? Jigga who?”
“Every day, a man nearing 60 years old is accused and then compelled to come online and distort the truth about me,” she expressed in another tweet.
Minaj’s tension with JAY-Z appeared to resurface when Kendrick Lamar was revealed as the halftime show act for Super Bowl LIX over Lil Wayne. Executive producer Jesse Collins disclosed in his interview with Variety on Monday (Sept. 16) that Hov ultimately has the final word in the selection process.
