The Taylor Swift-themed cruise traveling from Florida to The Bahamas shifted from joyful to tragic on Tuesday when a 66-year-old lady fell overboard and is currently unaccounted for.
A representative from the U.S. Coast Guard informed TMZ that the Royal Caribbean cruise ship, populated by Taylor’s devoted fans, departed from Miami’s port on Monday when tragedy struck about 17 miles north of Nassau, Bahamas, on Tuesday evening.
The spokesperson indicated that the woman unexpectedly went over the side of the ship, named “Allure of the Seas,” and fell into the ocean.
The Royal Bahamas Defense Force, in collaboration with the U.S. Coast Guard, responded swiftly to perform search and rescue operations, employing helicopters and aircraft.
However, thus far, the woman remains missing and is deemed as MIA.
To exacerbate the situation, the cruise was meant to be a delightful celebration featuring Taylor’s most devoted followers in honor of the pop star’s illustrious career.
Now, unfortunately, it has turned into a nightmare scenario, with officials currently searching the waters for the missing woman. It is yet to be determined whether she was part of the “Swifties” group or if she belonged to another party. Importantly, Taylor herself was not associated with the cruise.
As you’ve probably heard, TMZ was the first to report on Monday regarding the Taylor-themed gathering, featuring numerous photos capturing the “Swifties” enjoying themselves on the ship.
A spokesperson from Royal Caribbean stated to TMZ, “Our crew acted promptly to initiate a search and rescue operation and is collaborating with local authorities. We are also extending our support and assistance to the family of the guest during this challenging time. To maintain the privacy of our guest’s family, we have no further details to disclose.”
