Primus is currently seeking a new drummer as Tim Alexander has unexpectedly departed from the hard rock band, notifying his fellow musicians through digital messages.
The group revealed on Tuesday that Tim’s resignation was “immediate” … after he sent an email to founding members Les Claypool and Larry LaLonde.
The band expressed they were taken aback when Tim chose to resign… stating that he went silent after his announcement, except for one instance in which he communicated that he had “lost his enthusiasm for performing.”
Tim became a member of Primus back in 1989, although he took a 7-year break in 1996 before rejoining.
The most notable hit from the band was the iconic 1993 track “My Name is Mud” … and Primus also produced the original theme song for “South Park.”
Les and Larry have expressed their regret over Tim’s departure; nevertheless, they honor his decision … and the group confirms they are still slated to perform on December 31 for a New Year’s Eve show at the Fox Theater in Oakland, albeit without Tim.
Tim underwent open-heart surgery in 2014 … though it seems that health concerns did not contribute to his exit.
