There’s nothing quite as fiery as Rachael Ray‘s kitchen—except perhaps her fiery temperament. The renowned chef has candidly shared her experiences of engaging in intense squabbles with her husband, John Cusimano.
The television star opened up about her nearly two-decade relationship with her husband during the debut episode of her latest podcast, “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead.” She confessed to her guest Jenny Mollen that she often struggles to diffuse the tension during disputes with John, attributing her difficulty to her fiery nature and exuberant personality.
She expressed … “We have massive shouting matches all the time, but I genuinely believe that’s a good thing. I really do. And I can’t understand people who are overly quiet.”
Rachael noted … she prefers to know what’s on her partner’s mind … as she would much rather he “speaks his mind” during an argument.
Despite the passionate nature of their relationship, Rachael admitted that typically, they don’t exchange apologies after a tumultuous disagreement.
She elaborated … “Ultimately, I might give him a playful pat, or he will kiss me on the forehead, and that resolves everything. That’s our way of apologizing. It’s an unspoken understanding between us. ‘I still think you’re great.’ ‘I still think you’re adorable.’ It’s kind of in that realm.”
Clearly, this wasn’t the sole revelation Rachael disclosed during her debut episode … she also remarked that she initially perceived John “to be gay” when they first encountered each other.
The Food Network luminary reminisced … “He shared with me what he had cooked for dinner the previous night, and it was incredibly impressive. He mentioned he was a lawyer, and I thought to myself, no straight man knows about tilapia.”
However, Rachael’s initial intuition was misguided … as the duo proceeded to date and eventually wed in Italy in September 2005.
Rachael’s recently launched podcast emerged over a month after she raised concerns regarding her health when she slurred her speech in a cooking video that circulated on social media. Rachael chose not to address those worries … instead continuing her routine, sharing various recipes on her Instagram account.
Maybe she’s reserving that update for a forthcoming podcast episode!!!
