Rihanna consistently expresses her admiration for the emerging female talent in the music industry, but her appreciation for GloRilla and her craft is particularly noteworthy. In a recent conversation at the Savage X Fenty Lavish Lace launch at Nordstrom Century City in Los Angeles, the “Umbrella” hitmaker lavished praise on the Memphis rapper.
When inquired about the possibility of a dedicated Savage X Fenty anthem and who she envisioned crafting it, she immediately replied, “GloRilla.” She elaborated, “It’s uplifting to see a young woman who remains true to herself and her roots, and I truly admire that.”
This isn’t the first instance of her publicly supporting the dynamic performer. Previously, she captured attention by sharing a video in which she delightfully rapped along to “TGIF” with ASAP Rocky. That moment transformed the Harlem rapper into a meme, significantly increasing the song’s streams, which is certified gold by the RIAA.
Following the circulation of a clip from her interview on social media, GloRilla reacted, saying, “Let me hit the studio and start crafting this song; I do not joke around when it comes to RihRih. I adore you.” A fan joked, “Let me find out that GloRilla is about to lure Rihanna out of retirement.” Another added, “She’s got the blessings from Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and Rihanna; she’s all set.”
GloRilla has been reveling in immense success since the dawn of 2024. After igniting the summer alongside Megan Thee Stallion on her sold-out arena tour, she has continually released new tracks generating significant buzz.
Her latest album features 15 songs and includes collaborations with Muni Long, T-Pain, Fridayy, BossMan Dlow, Megan Thee Stallion, Kirk Franklin, Sexyy Red, and Latto. The project was released on October 11, competing with prominent figures in Hip Hop streaming such as Rod Wave and BigXthaPlug.
While she has not yet disclosed plans for a full-fledged headlining tour, GloRilla has been actively performing at various homecoming events nationwide. She has won the hearts of fans, especially within historically Black colleges and universities.
