Rihanna consistently expresses her admiration for up-and-coming female artists, and her appreciation for GloRilla and her craft stands out prominently. Recently, at the Savage X Fenty Lavish Lace launch at Nordstrom Century City in Los Angeles, the “Umbrella” star gave glowing compliments to the Memphis rapper.
When questioned about the existence of an official Savage X Fenty theme song and her ideal choice for the creator, without a moment of hesitation, she declared, “GloRilla.” She elaborated, saying, “Witnessing a young woman who remains true to herself and her roots is something I cherish.”
This certainly isn’t the first occasion Rihanna has showcased her admiration for the vibrant lyricist. Previously, she went viral after posting a clip of herself rapping the lyrics to “TGIF” alongside ASAP Rocky. The footage turned the Harlem artist into a meme, significantly boosting the streams of the RIAA-certified gold hit.
Following the circulation of a clip from her interview on social media, GloRilla joyfully responded, stating, “Let me run to the studio and start crafting this song, I don’t joke around when it comes to RihRih. I adore you.” One admirer quipped, “Let me see if GloRilla is about to lure Rihanna out of retirement.” Another commented, “With a stamp of approval from Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and Rihanna, she’s all set.”
GloRilla has been riding a significant wave of success since the beginning of 2024. After igniting the summer alongside Megan Thee Stallion on her sold-out arena tour, she has been routinely releasing tracks that have gained immense traction.
Her latest album boasts 15 tracks, featuring collaborations with Muni Long, T-Pain, Fridayy, BossMan Dlow, Megan Thee Stallion, Kirk Franklin, Sexyy Red, and Latto. The album was unveiled on Oct. 11, entering a competitive arena against hip-hop giants such as Rod Wave and BigXthaPlug.
Although a comprehensive headlining tour hasn’t been announced yet, GloRilla has been actively performing at various homecomings throughout the nation. She has become a favorite among fans, particularly at historically Black colleges and universities.
