Saweetie made a memorable visit to her former school, San Diego State University, where she showcased her dance skills with the “Diamonds” majorette team, reminiscent of her homecoming days. While they performed to her breakout anthem “Icy,” the crowd on social media erupted with admiration for her nostalgic return to the campus festivities.
One enthusiastic follower remarked, “She’s so stunning. Educated, successful, and beautiful. What a remarkable combination,” while another shared, “I can feel the significance of this moment for her and all the alumni diamond sisters dancing alongside her!!! Truly thrilled for her.” She reunited with the original members of her majorette team.
Saweetie has been in high demand recently. To celebrate the MLB World Series, she appeared in a pre-show advertisement expressing her loyalty to California, standing behind the Los Angeles Dodgers as they strive for another championship. Currently, they hold a 2-0 lead against the New York Yankees.
Though Saweetie grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, she now spends a significant amount of time in Los Angeles. Many fans praised her for championing the iconic baseball team, but some others felt slighted by her apparent allegiance to the Los Angeles team over the San Francisco Giants. The speculation surrounding Saweetie’s success has long included claims of nepotism. Earlier this year, she took steps to clarify these assertions following her appearance on Lil Yachty’s “A Safe Place Podcast”. She tweeted, “I detest the ‘nepo baby’ narrative. It undermines the story of a child who rarely spent time with her parents because they were constantly hustling to provide. If I had a ‘wealthy family,’ I believe they would have funded my tuition and living expenses, allowing me to enjoy college instead of juggling four jobs to support myself.”
She further elaborated in her post, stating, “Claiming I’m privileged overlooks the girl who put herself at risk by renting rooms through Craigslist, motivated by her belief in herself enough to endure living in a costly city while others advised her to return home for a safer, more financially sound option.”
While she does have connections to some celebrities through family, she has consistently emphasized her personal journey and the dedication she invested to reach her goals, which is well-documented.
