Sales have plummeted. For the first time in ages, there was a week where not a single rap track made it into the top 10.
Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre shared a couple of insights on how rap could potentially regain its status as the leading genre during a discussion with Stephen A. Smith.
Dr. Dre expressed his preference for having a single producer on an album, mentioning that he struggles with the situation of having nine different producers on one project, while Snoop Dogg criticized the lack of authenticity in contemporary Hip-Hop.

“Prioritize originality. At the moment, there’s an overwhelming amount of imitation and replication. Be true to yourself. Discover your unique voice. Identify your distinctive production style. Even if it doesn’t become a hit, remain genuine,” Snoop advised.
“Seek out your collaborators,” Dre stated. He expressed his concern over the trend of multiple producers contributing to a single album. Dre emphasized the importance of unity by saying, “I believe in the concept of one producer overseeing an entire album. Continuity matters above all,” he asserted. ”As a producer, your goal should be to create the whole album.”
Snoop further remarked that we are currently plagued by an excess of beatmakers rather than genuine producers.
