The year 2024 has already proven to be monumental for Kendrick Lamar. In May, he released one of the most significant Hip Hop albums with “Not Like Us,” and the momentum hasn’t slowed down, particularly with the announcement that he will headline Super Bowl LIX.
On Sunday (Oct. 13), SZA ignited speculation that the renowned Compton rapper is in the studio working on his forthcoming album. She shared a tweet from TDE collaborator Devin Malik, which stated, “Mood ‘cause new K. Dot album [is on the horizon]” on her Instagram.
Although Malik has yet to officially collaborate on any tracks with Lamar, he has previously provided production for notable artists such as Isaiah Rashad, ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, and Doechii. SZA, on the other hand, has worked with the “Alright” artist on the Grammy-nominated track “All The Stars” as well as 2017’s “Doves in the Wind.”
As of this report, Lamar has not substantiated the ongoing speculation. The latest music he released, speculatively titled “Watch The Party Die,” was dropped rather unexpectedly on Instagram in September. Nonetheless, an album debut around the time of Super Bowl LIX would not be unusual — Usher similarly released his album COMING HOME during 2024’s halftime show weekend.
“Rap music remains the most influential genre to this day,” Lamar stated in anticipation of the upcoming sports event, scheduled to occur in New Orleans on Feb. 9, 2025. He added, “And I’ll be present to remind the world why. They’ve got the right one.”
“Kendrick Lamar is undeniably a generational talent and performer,” emphasized JAY-Z. “His profound passion for Hip Hop and culture shapes his artistic perspective. He possesses an unmatched ability to define and impact culture on a global scale. Kendrick’s influence surpasses music, and its effects will endure for years to come.”
Lamar’s previous album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, went live on streaming platforms in 2022 and secured the Best Rap Album award at the 2023 Grammy Awards.
