Pittsburgh Steelers icon Terry Bradshaw has expressed that if he were at the helm, Justin Fields would remain the primary quarterback in Pittsburgh — definitely NOT Russell Wilson!
“In my view, he’s performed sufficiently to maintain his position,” he remarked.
While Bradshaw acknowledged that the Steelers, who are currently tied for the top of the AFC North at 4-2, could potentially achieve victory with Russ, he believes that Justin represents the most reliable option for the team, stating, “I would place my confidence in the young player.”
“I will continue to support Fields,” TB said. “He’s shown remarkable performance. With his athleticism and throwing skills, he aligns perfectly with the current team dynamics.”
Both Russell and Justin were acquired in the offseason with the intention for Wilson to be the starter, but a injury halted that plan.
Although Bradshaw was expressing his admiration for the fourth-year quarterback, Fields held a more critical view of his own performance and was not satisfied with himself.
“I don’t believe I performed to the best of my abilities,” Fields conveyed to the media. “If I’m being truthful, I think if I had played at my best, there wouldn’t even be a debate about who should be the starter.”
Head coach Mike Tomlin appears to concur with Fields, as all indications suggest that Wilson will take the lead in Sunday night’s game against Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets.
