The New York Mets are making every effort to sustain their hopes for the postseason … inviting The Temptations to Citi Field to deliver the national anthem and perform their classic, “My Girl.”
The track — which became the walk-up song for Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor earlier in May — gained traction among fans, who eagerly sang along with it during his at-bats … often continuing the melody even after it faded from the stadium’s sound system.

It wasn’t solely the spectators relishing the performance prior to Game 5 … as Lindor himself was spotted on the field swaying to the legendary band while undertaking his pregame exercises!!!

The founder of the band — Otis Williams — shared with MLB.com that they had been on tour just days before learning they would perform in front of a packed audience … viewing it as “a tremendous honor” to have the whole stadium singing, ‘My Girl’ as he steps up to bat.
“That’s an amazing experience. So here we are.”
Lindor delivered MVP-caliber statistics this season, contributing significantly to the Mets’ success … boasting a batting average of .273 along with 33 home runs and 91 RBIs.
The team is eager for a beneficial outcome … as they confront the possibility of elimination if they lose to the Dodgers on Friday.
