The Weeknd along with Playboi Carti introduced their collaboration “Timeless” on streaming platforms this past Friday (September 27), shortly after they previewed the track at The Weeknd’s exclusive event in São Paulo, Brazil.

Featuring production talents such as Mike Dean and Pharrell Williams, Carti kicks off the song with nods to Comme Garçons and Rick Owens. “Double-O, bust down the watch, she knows I’m timeless/ I put my son in some Rick,” states the Atlanta artist over the synth-infused beat.

Meanwhile, The Weeknd expressed appreciation for Williams, with whom he previously collaborated on tracks like “Wanderlust” and Travis Scott’s “SKELETONS.” The Grammy-winning artist sang, “Feeling like Skateboard P, BBC boys creeping/ Feels like it’s ’03, Neptune drum with a beam.”

“Timeless” is expected to be featured on The Weeknd’s upcoming album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, set to release later this year. He has already built excitement for the project with “Dancing In The Flames.” The music video for this track was filmed entirely on an iPhone 16 Pro and has amassed over 46 million views on YouTube to date.

“[This] new Weeknd and Carti collaboration is insane, man,” remarked one Twitter user. “Playboi Carti truly outshined The Weeknd in his own track. Wow,” another added. Scroll down to see a plethora of additional reactions.

“This album signifies the apex of creativity for the project, acting as the third and final chapter filled with existential and self-referential motifs, as showcased in the latest visionary teasers that have ignited fervor among fans in anticipation of this conclusive installment,” the Canadian singer hinted in a mysterious post earlier in September.

Hurry Up Tomorrow is rumored to be the XO artist’s last comprehensive project under The Weeknd name, marking a poignant conclusion to the trilogy that commenced with 2020’s After Hours. Subsequently, he released Dawn FM, which prominently featured the track “Here We Go… Again” featuring Tyler, The Creator, alongside “Out of Time” and “Is There Someone Else?”

Playboi Carti is also gearing up to launch MUSIC. As of now, “ALL RED” stands as the only confirmed single from the forthcoming album.
