TikTok sensation Rachel Yaffe has passed away after a prolonged battle with cancer, as confirmed by her family through an obituary.
As her family shared, the social media star died on Friday after a seven-year struggle with an uncommon form of liver cancer. Rachel, who chronicled her experience with fibrolamellar hepatocellular carcinoma on TikTok, had released her final update in September, highlighting her difficulties post-radiation treatment.
At that moment, she expressed, “Getting up and forcing myself to move has been incredibly challenging. I’m focused on improving that. Fortunately, being in the city makes it easier to walk around.”
Rachel had previously shared her tumultuous journey with cancer, explaining that she first became aware something was amiss during her late teenage years, only to initially dismiss her instincts.
As her worries grew, she was subsequently directed to a specialist, which led to the discovery of a tumor on her liver.
During her surgery to excise the tumor, the cancer regrettably metastasized to her lungs and liver, compelling her to contend with the illness for several additional years.
Rachel is survived by her parents Linda and Wayne, her grandmother Sydney, along with her siblings Jordan and Jessica. This week, her family is observing shiva, announcing that all services will be private.
In honor of Rachel, the family requests that donations be directed to Experience Camps, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping grieving children.
Rachel was merely 27 years old.
Rest in peace
