The remarkable journeys of Beyoncé and Solange serve as a testament to the immense talent within the Knowles lineage. Both artists have frequently credited their upbringing to their parents, Mathew and Tina. The latter recently discussed her experiences raising them during a Thursday (Oct. 3) conversation with Glamour.

In her dialogue with Donna Kelce, Maggie Baird, and Mandy Teefey — the mothers of Travis Kelce, Billie Eilish, and Selena Gomez — Tina revealed how she styled the hair of Beyoncé, Solange, and Kelly Rowland from a very young age, intending to shield them from the harsh realities of the music industry.

“My goal was to safeguard them. It wasn’t about the allure of constant travel – in truth, it was far from glamorous – but it was about shielding my children,” she told the publication. “The entertainment world can be ruthless and unforgiving.”

Tina further elaborated, “I was resolute that they would be insulated from certain aspects, and I was determined they wouldn’t become casualties of it. It became my mission. When it comes to your offspring, you strive to shield them; they require protection. Believe me, it’s essential.”

The “Dance For You” singer’s Cécred haircare line was, in fact, inspired by her mother’s extensive experience as a salon owner. Tina played a pivotal role in launching the brand, which features eight primary offerings, including a clarifying shampoo and a scalp exfoliant.

Latter in the discussion, Glamour Editor-in-Chief Samantha Barry inquired if the mothers still enjoyed “ordinary activities” with their children. “Solange just prefers to live her own life. She’ll head out shopping casually. But obviously, that kind of thing is off-limits with Beyoncé, and that’s what I truly miss,” Tina reflected. “I miss those grocery store trips and sharing meals in the cafeteria with my kids. These simple outings to the mall are now a thing of the past.”

In September, Tina was reported to have defended Beyoncé after Dolly Parton supported the CMAs regarding their decision to overlook COWBOY CARTER for nominations. However, the mother of two later clarified that those views did not originate from her.
