Tinashe is on the lookout for someone who can match her vibrant spirit. On Tuesday (Sept. 17), she unveiled a DJ competition for her “Match My Freak World Tour” in collaboration with SoundCloud.
“I’m searching for DJs to resonate with my vibe. In each city, I’ll be selecting one individual to kick off the show,” she expressed in the announcement video. The “No Broke Boys” artist’s journey is set to commence on Oct. 14 at the House of Blues in Anaheim. Following that, she’ll travel across North America, hitting cities like Atlanta, Nashville, Chicago, Brooklyn, Montreal, and Toronto.
While the specifics of the remaining tour dates are yet to be disclosed, Raveena Aurora has been confirmed as an opening performer for certain occasions. Tinashe also indicated that announcements regarding shows in the U.K., Europe, Australia, and Asia will be made soon.
The Kentucky-born artist’s “Match My Freak World Tour” takes its name from the catchy chorus of her hit song “Nasty.” The single reached No. 61 on the Billboard Hot 100 and climbed to No. 3 on the Hot R&B Songs chart. In June, she delighted fans with a series of remixes of the song, reimagined by talent like Jane Remover, OG Ron C, DJ Candlestick, and KAYTRANADA, among others. Tyga and Chlöe also joined the remix excitement.
“I’m not sure who can match my vibe. Honestly, when it comes to relationships and things of that nature, there’s really no one. I feel quite solitary, just doing my own thing,” Tinashe shared with KAYTRANADA during their discussion for Interview Magazine.
“But I suppose my fans resonate with my energy,” she continued. “They’ve been incredibly supportive during this era and have stood by me through the ups and downs. I genuinely appreciate everyone who has supported me throughout each phase of my career because I wouldn’t have achieved this without their encouragement.”
