Travis Scott has secured the I Am Hip Hop Award, enriching his impressive collection of achievements. On Tuesday (Oct. 15), Teyana Taylor, alongside his collaborator from “Water (Remix)”, Tyla, honored him with this recognition during this year’s BET Hip Hop Awards taking place in Las Vegas.

“I belong to a generation that was often dismissed as outsiders in Hip Hop,” the UTOPIA artist expressed during his acceptance speech. “Every single day, I strive to elevate the sound. Starting as a producer, my ambitions were largely misunderstood, yet I always held onto this concept. I envisioned influencing the sound and progressing to the next stage, and I’m truly grateful for how far we’ve come.”

“I hail from Houston, Texas, where we don’t often have numerous billboards or extravagant promotions to guide us. I want to convey to everyone, regardless of your origins, that it truly doesn’t matter,” Scott continued. “What truly matters is the thoughts in your mind, which can lead you further than you can imagine. With genuine focus, unwavering determination, and the right environment, you can achieve anything you desire.”

During his speech, the artist was honored with video messages from regular collaborators including DJ Khaled and Teezo Touchdown, as well as Texas icon Bun B. The founder of Cactus Jack Records received nominations for Hip Hop Album of the Year for UTOPIA, Song of the Year for “FE!N,” and Best Live Performer, among other categories.

Scott wrapped up his speech by stating, “I want to extend my gratitude to you, BET, for genuinely acknowledging my contributions. Sometimes, I feel as though my efforts go unnoticed, so this recognition feels fantastic.” He also expressed his affection for his children, Stormi and Aire, whom he shares with Kylie Jenner.
