The highly anticipated CHROMAKOPIA by Tyler, The Creator is set to release on October 28. Just a week before its launch, on October 21, he shared the album’s second pre-release track titled “NOID.”
Continuing the themes presented in last week’s “ST. CHROMA,” the visual that accompanies the song features a stark color palette and opens with Tyler maneuvering through a throng of people while donned in a mask. At one moment, Emmy Award-winning actress Ayo Edebiri rushes towards him with her smartphone and is later depicted wielding a gun.
“I can’t even purchase a home in secret / Home invaders have my brothers dying / I notice every vehicle passing by / I think my neighbors wish me dead / I’ve got a cannon stashed beneath the bed,” Tyler raps. “Double-checking if I’ve locked the door / I’m familiar with every creak in the floor / Man, I’m paranoid.” Don’t miss the complete video below.
CHROMAKOPIA is set to launch three weeks prior to Tyler’s appearance at Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival 2024. This popular festival will also feature acts like Playboi Carti, Sexyy Red, Denzel Curry, Doechii, Tommy Richman, ScHoolboy Q, and many others taking the stage from November 16 to 17 for its tenth anniversary celebration.
Like 2023, Camp Flog Gnaw will be hosted at Los Angeles’ Dodgers Stadium. Producers such as Mustard and The Alchemist will have their own performances, and a homage to the late MF DOOM is also anticipated.
Tyler has not released an album since 2021’s CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST, which snagged the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album at the 64th Awards. This 16-track collection featured hits like “WUSYANAME” with YoungBoy Never Broke Again and Ty Dolla Sign, the Lil Uzi Vert-assisted track “JUGGERNAUT,” and “SWEET / I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO DANCE,” among others. Notable collaborations included Lil Wayne, Teezo Touchdown, Brent Faiyaz, 42 Dugg, and Pharrell Williams, among many others.
The album’s artwork was crafted by Gregory Ferrand, who revealed to Complex, “I believe what [Tyler] was aiming for is reminiscent of the early 1960s, but it aligns with my aesthetic style. I genuinely mean it when I say that he presented me with a rather rough sketch, yet it captured his vision perfectly.”
