In his latest single “Thought I Was Dead,” Tyler, The Creator delivers a pointed message aimed at a specific white individual.
“White boys ridiculing this sh*t and you guys are upset with me. You all can kiss my ass,” he rhymed. “Dig up old tweets, dig up old t-shirts, I’ll moonwalk over that nonsense.”
The individual in question is Ian.
This connection was clarified when Tyler clashed with Ian’s associates earlier this summer following an interview with Maverick Carter.
“This white dude, your typical Caucasian guy, and he’s over here ridiculing Future and Gucci Mane as if it’s a joke. And people are like, ‘this sh*t is hard.’ It’s not really satire; it’s just, ‘I’m just messing around, I’m just making fun.’ But I’m thinking, no, that’s not okay. I hold rap music in high regard, and I’m quite the enthusiast about it. It feels… off. When I look at it, something doesn’t feel right to me. Compared to someone like Mac Miller or Eminem, who didn’t seem to mock it, they showed a true appreciation for it.”
Does Tyler have a valid point regarding Ian?
