On Friday (Oct. 4), Victoria Monét unveiled the much-anticipated deluxe edition of JAGUAR II. This album brought forth 10 new tracks, featuring the fan-favorite “Sex on Sight (SOS)” featuring Usher and “We Might Even Be Falling In Love” with Bryson Tiller.
Opening with the track “D**kAtNight,” Monét embraces her sexual empowerment as a “newly single” individual, following her recent split from longtime partner John Gaines, as they confirmed their breakup in September. Another standout on the album is the Thundercat collaboration “Don’t Sleep,” where the singer boldly claims, “I better see your a** at the GRAMMYs/ Bet I can make your girl drop the panties.”
The track “1900’s” prominently incorporates a sample from Michael Jackson’s “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’,” while “Love Is Stronger Than Pride” pays tribute to Sade’s classic 1988 song of the same name.
Wrapping up the album is “The Greatest (Lovenotes Outro),” featuring uplifting affirmations from Monét’s loved ones, including her daughter, grandfather, aunt, and cousins, alongside industry figures like D’Mile and even Beyoncé. “I love you. I cherish you. I’m here for you,” declared the pop superstar. “There have been times in my life when your music has colored my world so vibrantly.”
Following the album’s launch, the “Party Girls” artist started trending on Twitter. “Victoria Monét just [doesn’t] miss,” shared one user. Another added, “Victoria Monét [is] just one of those rare talents [who] knows how to create a remarkable song.”
Responding to the outro on JAGUAR II (Deluxe), one listener commented, “This is the epitome of Earth sign energy, and I absolutely adore it.” Check out more reactions below.
Prior to the release of the deluxe edition, Monét informed Angie Martinez that she has no plans for another tour to promote JAGUAR II unless it’s in support of another artist. Her previous tour journeyed across North America and Europe before wrapping up in Brazil.
