Even though Young Thug is currently incarcerated, his impact on the Hip Hop scene remains significant. On Friday afternoon (Oct. 18), he stirred up social media by appearing to negotiate peace among Future, Metro Boomin, and Drake.
In a recent update, he proclaimed, “Drake, Future, Metro Boomin, we all brothers. The music isn’t the same without our collaborations.” Future promptly reshared this on the platform previously known as Twitter, prompting fans to speculate whether this could mend the rift between the artists.
One follower asked, “Would ‘Not Like Us’ lose its momentum if those mentioned resumed working with Drake as if nothing occurred?” Another replied, “I’d argue that Drake’s six-month hiatus before being compelled back to Atlanta reinforces this notion.”
Uncertainly looms whether this will result in a reconciliation among the involved parties. Since Young Thug’s imprisonment, Drake and Future have frequently acknowledged their “Way 2 Sexy” partner. Earlier this month, the “God’s Plan” rapper noted he funded Thug’s legal fees amid the widely covered YSL trial.
In a recent collaboration, Future conveyed, “I’m just a street n**ga, just rappin’, my day ones went fed (Pluto)/ You took a plea on my slime, wouldn’t be shocked if you ended up dead (Slatt)/ I’ve been going crazy in the trap, need to take my meds (Let’s go).” This has led many fans to speculate that these lyrics in ASAP Ferg’s latest track “Allure” were aimed at Gunna to support Young Thug.
While Drake has not yet reacted to the tweet, considering his previously active demeanor, a discreet response seems probable soon. Known as the self-proclaimed “petty king,” his reputation includes dropping subtle, passive-aggressive hints. He recently went viral after sharing his feelings about former associates who leveraged their friendship with him for career advancement at Nostalgia in Toronto.
